东南极构造-变质演化与超大陆汇聚

刘晓春和胡健民研究员团队对东南极雷纳变质杂岩开展了同位素年代学和地球化学研究,同时对西福尔丘陵的变质基性岩墙群进行了变质岩石学和同位素年代学研究。在雷纳杂岩中首次识别出>1150 Ma的岛弧成因岩石,特别是布朗山地区~1490-1400 Ma及埃默里冰架东缘~1380-1210 Ma镁铁质-长英质变质火成岩的发现为长寿命(1490-1020 Ma)的雷纳大陆岛弧的确定提供了可靠的年代学约束,从而揭示雷纳造山带在晚中元古代经历了长期(~500 Ma)的岛弧增生过程。在西福尔陆块西南部基性岩脉中发现了不均匀麻粒岩化,首次在兰伯特裂谷以东获得格林维尔期变质作用的精确时代(960-940 Ma)和P-T条件(8.4-9.7 kb、820-870ºC),证明原属于印度克拉通的西福尔陆块也卷入到了雷纳造山作用过程。结合印度东高止构造带的对比研究,重建了中新元古代印度克拉通与东南极陆块之间从增生到碰撞的构造演化过

程(图4)造演化过。提出印度与东南极陆块之间在中元古代存在一个长达>2000 km、宽达>500 km的大陆岛弧,其演化长达~600 Ma,包括~1500-1000 Ma的大洋俯冲和增生以及~1000-900 Ma弧-陆和陆-陆两阶段碰撞。本项研究深化了对南极大陆格林维尔期构造热事件的认识,印度-南极陆块之间两阶段碰撞模型的提出也引起了国际同行的关注。研究成果主要发表在《American Journal of Science》(2014)和《Journal of Metamorphic Geology》(2014)
